Two words: Snow Cream. Have you made this yet? Well, you have to have snow to make it. And we had a ton of it. Supposedly more is on the way too.  But I highly suggest you make this fantastic treat! I know it’s not really baking. Or cooking. But it is delicious concocting!

Snow Cream

Snow Cream is an easy way to to appease an ice cream craving while trapped in the house. Here is my generic recipe:

Fill a bowl with snow. Add some milk and stir. Add and stir for a while until it starts to get creamy. If you want it colored, add food coloring to the milk first and it will blend in quite nicely. Next, add some flavor. I suggest vanilla, chocolate syrup, or in this case, peppermint. Now if you taste it, you’ll be able to tell that it NEEDS sugar! So dump some in and stir. Then add more as you need it. I know it ended up being more than I had hoped so don’t be afraid to keep adding it. If you end up adding to much of anything, go outside and get some more snow! I also added some chocolate chips – chopped into small pieces to  make it Mint Chocolate Chip.

Snow Cream and Brownies

I suggest serving along side some brownies. As you can see, these went very quickly!

Hope you get some snow soon so you can try this!

Ok – so we got slammed with about 25″ of snow. And this is totally not normal for where we live! But we were prepared… to make lots of food! I had 2 cake jobs cancel (thankfully!) so I had plenty of time to play in the snow and make lots of treats. So I hope to post on all the fun creations we made. I’ll come back with  more details but until then – you can see picts on flickr (the little box on the left will take you there). Here are just a few highlights:
