You might remember when this project was started back in January. Since then a shower was held, a baby was born, and a sweet little quilt was finished.
My friend requested something with stars, and I think this patten was perfect for these fabrics. I took the photos just last week while in San Diego for work on the roof of our hotel (which I would also recommend to San Diego-bound travelers).
I’m hoping to meet little Annika on Monday! Congratulations to Ilka and Robert!
Happy Giveaway Day! We’re offering a set of handmade kitchen towels that Carrie put together specifically for Sew Mama Sew’s Giveaway Day.
Aren’t they cute? If you would like to enter to win them, please leave us a comment here on this post by 8 pm EST on May 31st. We’ll need an email or blog address to contact you, but it won’t be published unless you choose in the comment options. We keep our comments moderated due to an exorbitant number of spam messages, but we’ll get them approved as fast as we can. We’ll ship worldwide for our international friends.
In your comment, please also tell us a little about what motivates your creativity - whether you sew, bake, cook, dance, or whatever your creative outlet! We’ll be picking a winner by random number (random.org), but we just love to read about what keeps you going.

For a friend’s daughter’s first birthday, I got to make a really fun cake! My friend said that Willow really likes owls. Which means (in mom language) that Willow’s mom likes owls. I like owls too. For Ethan’s first birthday, I decided he liked caterpillars and made a sweet caterpillar cake. For his second, I’m afraid he likes Bob the Builder and I’ll most likely be making a construction equipment cake. But I digress…
Here is Willow’s Owl Cake:
The cake was vanilla with a sweet cream filling. The frosting is buttercream that I colored a light blue color to look like the sky. The owls and decorations are made from fondant.
The flowers were made with a really sweet little flower puncher I just got. I think I love it. I even used one to make the imprint on the large owls belly.
As it is Memorial Day, let us also say THANKS to all the veterans who have served our great nation!
